‘Alan Coleman Painting and Decorators redecorated our entire basement flat (all external doors and windows; all internal doors, windows and walls). It was a very tricky job as we had recently undertaken extensive damp-proofing repairs and had new lime plaster on the walls, which made the walls difficult to work with. We did not want any lining or wall paper because of the dampness and we wanted to use eco-friendly breathable paint only. The plasterwork was very rough and Alan advised us that he would find it very difficult to give us anything other than a “Mexican Rustic” look! However, we were utterly delighted with the finish he managed to achieve, after sanding and filling. The walls are so much smoother than we ever thought possible and the standard of workmanship is very pleasing indeed. Alan was very accommodating in fitting this job around our schedule and came back several times to attend to further works required by us. Alan has a great sense of humour and he and his men were very easy to get on with and did a thoroughly good job. It was a pleasure to deal with Alan and we would recommend his work very highly indeed. Alan was recommended to us by our joiner, David Francey (who is also fantastic), and we were delighted with the way this work was done.’

'Capital Decorators totally transformed our church hall from a typical 1930s look to a modern stylish interior. They were responsive to our budget restrictions. The job took almost two weeks, during which Alan and his team were efficient and helpful in getting the task done round our tight and difficult deadlines, sometimes making helpful suggestions and just taking on minor additional tasks as part of the job. “We used Capital Decorators to revive our dark and tired looking hall and vestibule. Alan and his boys did a great job, from stripping off the old paper, preparing the walls and woodwork, through to hanging the lining paper and painting the whole thing. The house was kept as clean as possible throughout the works by meticulous tidying up at the end of each day. This huge job (in my view), which included 12 doors and a cupula above the stairwell, was completed within Alan’s estimated time and finished to a high standard. We talked with Alan about colours before the job started and he gave us really helpful advice on the best colours to use for a hallway – the shades he pointed us to made for a much lighter and better coordinated finish than those we had originally considered and we are delighted with the result.”
